Texas Fall Foliage Colors 2022

It’s been a long, dry year for Texas and that could impact fall foliage – but maybe now how you think. The low rainfall amounts in Texas this year will likely have more impact on the timing of fall foliage, rather than if we have fall foliage. Meterologists suggest Texas fall foliage in 2022 has more to do with when cooler temperatures arrive in the state and how much rainfall we experience in October and November. If you are planning an off road or overland trip and expect to see fall foliage keep an eye on forecasts for peak colors as the timing could come earlier or later than the typical Mid-October and November timeframes.

Here are the 14 best Texas fall foliage spots:

  • Garner State Park
  • Lost Maples State Natural Area
  • Daingerfield State Park
  • Dinosaur Valley State Park
  • Lake Bob Sandlin State Park
  • Guadalupe Mountains National Park
  • Angeline National Forest
  • Sabine National Forest
  • Caddo Lake State Park
  • Tyler State Park
  • McKinney Falls State Park
  • Fort Worth Botanical Gardens Japanese Garden
  • Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
  • Caprock Canyon State Park
