A twin-turbo Frontier on 35s is a pretty good way to get our attention. Nissan’s new RONIN concept brings the stance, tires and desert-truck attitude that make you start mentally rearranging the garage.
Revealed November 2 ahead of SEMA’s November 3–6 run, it leads a three-vehicle off-road lineup alongside a retro-flavored Pathfinder and a safari-style Armada. These are show concepts, not trucks you can order.
The Frontier RONIN is the one we’d walk across the show floor to see
Nissan pairs a twin-turbo version of the Frontier’s 3.8-liter V6 with modified TITAN suspension hardware, a wider track and 35-inch Yokohama Geolandar X-AT tires. The build sheet adds long-travel components, NISMO rock sliders and a spare-tire carrier.
The appeal goes beyond horsepower. A midsize pickup with space to work underneath it, protection where it counts and a bed ready for dirty gear is an easy vehicle to picture at the end of a rough road. We would want to see how all that extra width feels on tighter trails.
Other Nissan News:
The Pathfinder remembers its adventurous side

The XE-V6 concept borrows the look of early Nissan SUVs: red paint, bold stripes and a full-size spare on a rear swing-out carrier. A four-inch lift, recovery equipment and roof storage complete the weekend-away theme.
For family campers, that is the more relatable idea: one vehicle that handles the school week and still looks ready when Friday’s bags land by the door.
The Armada goes full safari

The Jungle Patrol takes the bigger SUV in a more theatrical direction, with an open roof, tubular cage and 37-inch tires. It is the dream-trip end of Nissan’s display—more expedition daydream than ordinary daily driver.
The takeaway for your own build
Borrow the priorities rather than the entire shopping list: tires suited to your roads, protection for the places you’ll scrape and a sensible way to carry the spare. Most Texas weekends won’t need a show-truck budget.
